Building Cheetah Prompt: Journal #3

I’ve been building software since 2012. Despite my failures, I’ve been blessed to generate over 8M in annual recurring revenue, and I’d like to share some of the lessons I’ve learned along the way…

The most important thing I’d like to share with you is that the most successful software I’ve worked on all had one thing in common…

It’s a key element not talked about much, and I see it in other successful software companies as well…

To build a sustainable, long-term, thriving software company, I truly believe you need to have this key element…

And that element is a great experience…

When I say “great experience”, I don’t mean your software needs to be perfect, completely bug free or have a bunch of innovative tech…

You can fall flat on all of the above and still provide a great experience…

It simply means you put thought and care into what happens the moment someone becomes a customer of yours…

Here are a few things that can make an experience great for your customers:

  • A seamless registration and login process. People don’t want to work to get access to something they just paid for.
  • A well laid out UI that helps users easily use your app or have clear step by step instructions. People don’t want to spend hours learning how to use your tool or, even worse, not have educational material to learn if they want to.
  • Competent, helpful and friendly customer support. People want to get answers to their questions with the least amount of back and forth as possible.
  • Fast bug fixing and feature enhancements. People love it when they feel heard. If someone gives you a feature suggestion or reports a bug and you fix it swiftly they will take notice and probably be a long term customer.

There are countless other things that can be done to provide a great experience, but these 4 things are easy to do. It takes effort to do them, but they are easy.

If you’d like to hear more about how a great experience can impact your bottom line, you can watch the video above.
